Mackena Bell To Make NASCAR Nationwide Series Debut With Rick Ware Racing

1PHOENIX, Ariz. (November 4, 2014) - - Officials from Rick Ware Racing (RWR) confirmed today that NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) driver Mackena Bell will compete in Saturday’s DAV 200 at Phoenix (Ariz.) International Speedway.

By taking the green flag behind the No. 23 Rick Ware Racing Chevrolet, Bell will become the only female graduate of NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity program to compete at a NASCAR national series level.

Bell, a native of Carson City, Nevada recently completed her second season of NASCAR K&N Pro Series East competition driving for Rev Racing. She finished 16th in points and posted one top-10 finish in the season-opener at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway.

Of course, the intensity and competition level will increase ten-fold in the penultimate race of the NASCAR Nationwide Series season, but the 24-year is old is eager to turn heads.

“I’m just going to enjoy every minute of it,” said Bell. “For so long, I’ve put so much pressure on myself to do something, to prove something, that I’ve not always enjoyed the ride. This race will be different. I’m going to enjoy this opportunity and learn as much as possible.

“This series is very competitive and there are a lot of teams with huge sponsors and great backing. Running for a little team gives you the chance to just take it all in, experience the differences and not feel the pressure, or expectation of setting the world on fire. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Team principal Rick Ware is equally excited to see Bell’s progression throughout the weekend, as well as finesse behind the wheel in her NASCAR Nationwide Series debut.

“We could not be more thrilled to have Mackena behind the wheel of a Rick Ware Racing car this weekend at Phoenix,” said Ware. “She exemplifies everything we look for in a young, ambitious driver. No doubt that she has a lot to learn in a short period of time, but I think she’ll be fine. I know she’s looking forward to this week, so we’ll give it all we have to make sure her Nationwide debut is one to remember.”

Of course, RWR is no stranger to working and breeding young talent throughout various forms of Motorsports. This weekend, the organization will continue to live up to its standards and introduce the second female to drive for the team this season.

“Mackena is a female who’s worked hard to get where she is at today,” he said. “It’s easy for anyone to say that she is getting this opportunity because she is a female. But, she’s earned it. She does a great job behind the wheel of a racecar and even though her learning curve is steep, she’ll do fine at Phoenix. We’ll build on it and see what’s next.”

The DAV 200 – Honoring America’s Veterans is set for Saturday, November 8. The 200-lap contest is scheduled to air live on ESPN, the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90 beginning at 1:30 p.m. The green flag is scheduled to fly at 2:15 p.m. local; 4:15 p.m. Eastern.

Carlos Contreras Reaches 100 Start Milestone At Texas Motor Speedway

1JUSTIN, Texas (October 29, 2014) - - A week after watching his nephew make his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) debut at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, Carlos Contreras will exchange a radio for a steering wheel and compete in Saturday’s O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS). More importantly, Contreras’ start on Saturday will reach a huge milestone for the Hispanic racer. By taking the green flag in the final stretch of the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) season, Contreras will have competed in 100 national series races across the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series, dating back to 1999.

RaceTrac will adorn the hood of the No. 87 Chevrolet Camaro as the primary marketing partner in Contreras’ 13th race of the season. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, RaceTrac has been serving guests since 1934 and now operates more than 370 convenience stores locations in Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Texas. Recently, RaceTrac opened their 100th store in Texas to coincide with Contreras’ feat.

“I’m so happy to reach 100 races,” said Contreras. “It is something that is really special for me and my family. We were the first Hispanic driver in NASCAR in 1999, and now will be the first to reach 100 races in the national series.

“There is just so many people that I have to thank. The list goes on and on. I especially want to thank my wife, Alejandra. She left her life in Mexico to start this adventure with me. I want to thank my kids Carolos and Andrea too. Also, my brother Enrique, who was the one that started this project. He has always believed in me and has been supporting me every day. It was because of him that the door opened for me into NASCAR and that still continues today with other Hispanic drivers. Lastly, my best friend, Mike Vazquez. He is like my brother. Since 2003, we’ve been working together and he has been by my side at all times. Without his help, I wouldn’t be reaching 100 races.”

“Saturday will be such a special moment for me,” said Contreras. “It seems like yesterday that I was climbing behind the wheel for my first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race in California, and now here we are 15 years later, I’m making my 100th career start.” After a much needed two week break following a 19 consecutive week stretch for the NASCAR Nationwide Series tour, the season resumes for the final three races of the year, beginning in the Lone Star state.

Contreras, a native of Mexico City, Mexico has never competed at the 1.5-mile speedway in a Nationwide car, but he does have six starts in a truck, including a ninth place finish after starting 16th in 2001. This weekend though, Contreras will reunite with TMS for the first time since 2002.

“Obviously, it’s been a while since I’ve been to Texas,” added Contreras. “I’m sure the track has changed a lot since 2002, but hopefully we can unload our No. 87 RaceTrac Chevrolet Camaro with some speed and keep adjusting it to the track conditions. I have a feeling the track will change a lot from the start to the end of the race, so if we can stay ahead of that, we should be able to bring home a satisfying finish on Saturday.”

He added, “As I enter my 100th race, I can’t help, but forever be grateful to RaceTrac for helping me achieve this goal. It’s because of them and people like Roman Ruiz (Global Aircraft Solutions), Hector Andreu (Hot Wheels), Mike Vazquez (38 Special, Pitbull and Voli Vodka) and of course, my current team Rick Ware Racing. Together, this weekend we make history. 100 starts in NASCAR. It’s a great feeling!”

For team owner Rick Ware, his team is honored to be a part of Contreras’ noteworthy achievement.

“It’s an honor for Rick Ware Racing to be the home for Carlos’ 100 NASCAR start,” he said. “It’s been a pleasure to work with him and his marketing partners this season, but we’re equally as focused on making this weekend a memorable one for him and the folks at RaceTrac.

“Texas is a tough track, but I believe that Carlos can get the job done and bring home a solid finish on Saturday afternoon.”

Following Texas, Contreras is schedule to pilot a Rick Ware Racing car in the 2014 season-finale at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway on November 15. The O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge is set for Saturday, November 1. The 200-lap contest is scheduled to air live on ESPN, the Performance Racing Network (PRN) and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90 beginning at 2:00 p.m. Central. The green flag is scheduled to fly at 2:46 p.m. local.

New Sponsor Unites Timmy Hill With Rick Ware Racing At Dover International Speedway

clip_image004DOVER, Delaware (September 25, 2014) -- Rick Ware Racing announced today that 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year Timmy Hill will pilot the team’s No. 23 Chevrolet Camaro in Saturday’s Dover 200 at Dover (Del.) International Speedway.

Saturday’s race will also mark the debut of the team’s newest sponsor, Retro Infinity Inc.

Retro Infinity Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of WRIT Media Group, Inc. (OTCQB: WRIT) and publisher of classic video games on today's mobile devices, including the Amiga Games brand will back the team for the 28th NASCAR Nationwide Series race of the season.

"NASCAR provides an exciting environment in which to provide awareness and showcase our mobile gaming products, and we look forward to further enhancing the fan experience at home, at the track and on the go for these races," says Retro Infinity Inc. CEO Eric Mitchell.

Hill, 21, will make his fifth NASCAR Nationwide Series start of the season at the “Monster Mile” Saturday. Hill has competed in three events for Rick Ware Racing this year, most recently at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway last month. Hill competed for the Thomasville, North Carolina-based team earlier at Dover International Speedway, where he maneuvered a season-best finish of 21st, after starting 25th.

“I’m excited to represent Retro Infinity this weekend at Dover,” said Hill. “It’s always refreshing to welcome a new sponsor to the sport, especially one that can relate to NASCAR fans across the country. We had a solid run at Dover earlier this year, so we’ll return this weekend and hope we can do a little better.”

The Port Tobacco, Maryland driver will make his fifth career Nationwide start at the 1.0-mile concrete oval Saturday. In his previous four runs, Hill negotiated four top-25 finishes, including a track best of 21st occurring in June.

“I enjoy competing at Dover,” added Hill. “It’s a cool track, but one you need to have finesse in order to conquer. Handling is important for our No. 23 Retro Infinity Chevrolet Camaro, so I’m sure we’ll spend practicing making sure we’ll have a competitive piece for the race. Everyone at Rick Ware Racing wants to have a good run for Retro Infinity Inc. in their NASCAR debut.”

Entering Dover, Hill is set to make his 68th career NASCAR Nationwide Series start. He has achieved two top-10 finishes, including a career-best of seventh at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February 2012. He will run double-duty this weekend at Dover, also piloting the No. 44 Chevrolet SS for Xxxtreme Motorsport in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

The Dover 200 is set for Saturday, September 27, 2014. The 200-lap contest is scheduled to air live on ESPN2, the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90 beginning at 3:30 p.m. Eastern. The green flag is scheduled to fly at 3:44 p.m.

Cody Shane Ware Set For NASCAR Nationwide Series Debut With Rick Ware Racing

1LEXINGTON, Ohio (August 13, 2014) - - Officials from Rick Ware Racing (RWR) announced today that 18-year old racecar driver Cody Ware will make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut this Saturday from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in the Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200.

Ware, a former Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) competitor will drive the No. 23 38 Special / Lilly Trucking Chevrolet Camaro for his father, longtime NASCAR owner and former driver Rick Ware. It seems only fitting for the teenager to make his Nationwide Series debut on a road course. This season, the third-generation driver has been competing in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Series, where he has earned two wins in his Lamborghini Super Trofeo class and placing third overall at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International twice. Ware is hoping he can apply those road racing skills in the final road course race of the season.

“I am very excited to finally be making my NASCAR Nationwide Series debut this weekend,” said Cody Ware. “The fact that I will be getting to race for my family makes it even greater. I am extremely grateful for everything and everyone that has made this possible.

“Mike Vazquez and 38 Special have made this race possible for me, they have been extremely good to me throughout the year, and I want to show them how much I appreciate their belief in me with a good run on Saturday. I also have to thank Dennis and Sharon Lilly from Lilly Trucking for their continued support of RWR and helping us get to the track not only this weekend, but for the last several years.”

With a strong field on deck for the 2.25-mile, 13-turn course, Ware is hoping to play their strategy right and be in contention for a top-15 finish in the 22nd race of the year.

“I know Saturday won’t be easy, but we’re up for the challenge,” Ware added. “Our team had a strong run at Road America with Kevin O’Connell in June and I think if we play our cards right we could find ourselves in a similar spot. While we strive to have goals on Saturday, the most important thing for me and our team is see the checkered flag.”

For car owner and father Rick Ware, Saturday’s race will be one of the greatest moments of his racing career.

“It is very exciting to be at the track and have my son, Cody drive for my team,” offered Rick Ware. “My father made his NASCAR debut in 1982 and I made mine in 1983 at Riverside (Calif.) Raceway. This is our family business and it has taken a lot of help from family, friends and sponsors to make this happen for Cody Shane. I believe he can be patient and learn something every lap in his Nationwide debut. Most of all, I hope he can take it all in, have fun and realize what a privilege it is to run a NASCAR Nationwide Series and be a part of the NASCAR family. There is only one first race. I think he’ll make the best of it!”

The Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200 (90 Laps / 203.22 miles) is set for Saturday August 16, 2014. The third and final road course race of the year is scheduled to air live on ESPN, the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 90 beginning at 2:30 p.m. Eastern.

“It’s so easy to get distracted texting and driving,” Contreras added. “But, at what cost? It’s important to know the consequences of texting and driving and I just hope race fans will join me in being responsible when it comes to the road.”

Car owner Rick Ware is looking forward to being a part of Contreras’ trip to Daytona.

“We are excited about having Carlos back in time for Daytona, one of my favorite tracks,” Ware said. “I’m looking forward to having a great finish with him, RaceTrac and all of our RWR partners.”
