Tyler Hill clinches Allison Legacy National Championship

Tyler Hill will clinch the Allison Legacy Series National Championship with just a start in the season's finale' on December 10th.

Hill grabbed the pole and led the most laps this past Saturday at Concord Motorsports Park. Hill was running second on the final lap when he spun contending with lap traffic going for the win and ended the race in fifth.

"It has been an awesome season and we have just one more race to go. We want to win the last one just like we want to win them all," Hill explained.

Hill will match his brother Timmy's title from 2009 with one of the most impressive seasons in the series history.

"We have won 12 races this season. We gave a few away too. I can't say enough about this team and the season we have had to date. It means so much to my family to win this championship!"

Mission Accomplished! Hill wins Rookie of the Year!

The tension was thick as the NASCAR Nationwide Series entered the season finale' at the Miami-Homestead Speedway. Timmy Hill trailed Ryan Truex by 3 points and was tied with Blake Koch for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings.

Hill knew that with the current points system his title hopes was in his hands. Gaining one point for entering the event and being in front of Blake and Ryan in overall points, had the 18 year old tied for the Championship with Truex and just a mere point in front of Koch.

It all came down to winning the Rookie of the Race at Homestead. Hill wins, he wins the title. Koch wins, he wins the title.

Hill qualified 33rd and Koch in the Top 20, but that never bothered the Poynt driver. By the halfway mark, Hill made a green flag pass on his competitor for the 24th position.

Koch made his move to the pits with Hill making his stop on the following lap when the caution came out for the #66 crash.

Hill now had Koch a lap down and the 18 year never let up, driving to the finish in the 21st position and the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year title.

"I can't thank this team enough! When it was crunch time, they pulled through. They have done it all year with our back against the wall!", stated Hill

Hill has now entered the history book as the Youngest NASCAR Rookie of the Year in the top three series.

"We are going to take the next couple days off and get started on 2012. Thank you to everyone at Poynt, Lilly Trucking and Fastwax for making this a year to remember!"

Hill rallies to 18th at Phoenix

Timmy Hill continued his streak of improvement as he returns to tracks from earlier in the season.

In the spring, Hill finished 28th in his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut and his return was a pickup of 10 positions with a 18th place finish.

"We had a great handling car all weekend. Kinda messed up the qualifying run but we knew we had a great car for the race," stated Hill.

Hill marched into the top 30 in the first ten laps and continued a forward march. With just 70 laps remaining, Hill lost power steering and was forced to muscle the car to a top twenty.

"That was a chore!" stated Hill. "I work out every day in anticipation of days like this and it paid off. The guys worked so hard and as a team we came through."

Hill and the Poynt team now head to Homestead, the season finale with a lot on their minds. Rookie of the Year.

"We have done everything we can and now it is pretty much up to a vote. Did we do enough? I believe so but I don't get to vote," Hill laughed.

NASCAR will hold a 30 point vote to determine the winner of the NASCAR Nationwide Sunoco Rookie of the Year, based off performance, sportsmanship and professionalism.

"We have had the lead for 27 weeks. We always try to do more than our competitors just not rookies but all of NASCAR by the way we carry ourselves and how we interact with the fans. If we still don't win the committee's vote I know we have won the fans vote every time we head into the stands. Sometimes that's more important, but that award would cap off a very tough year that our organization has went through."
