RWR Goes Short Track Racing at Richmond
Heading into a 6 week in row stretch, the Rick Ware Racing Team is loaded and ready for the second short track race of the year, Richmond VA. This .75 mile track proves to be difficult not only on the drivers but on the crew chiefs as well. With an increasing radius corner on one end and decreasing on the other, not to mention different degrees of banking the entire way around, Richmond requires a certain degree of compromise in the setup and steady hands on the wheel.“Richmond is a tricky track but a fun one to watch and be involved with. Our entire Poynt.com team is super excited about going short track racing. Timmy grew up racing short tracks and has a great feel for the car so this should be a good weekend for us.”, stated team owner Rick Ware. The team will roll out 3 cars this weekend with the 15 driven by Blake Koch, 41 piloted by Timmy Hill and 75 driven by veteran Scott Riggs.
“I really enjoyed racing at Richmond last year and we showed a lot of speed out there. We didn't qualify as well as we should have but come race time we were a top 10 car with no question. Rick and the Poynt.com guys really give me a car I can save brakes and tires with while moving forward in traffic. That is a hard thing to do at a track like this but these guys are really good!”, stated driver Timmy Hill.Look for all of the action this Friday night on ESPN2 as the Nationwide Series conquers Richmond under the lights!
