But as has been the case all year long, the Poynt.com team with Timmy Hill at the wheel looks forward to the challenge and heads into this tricky track with high expectations and excitement.

The Car

The #41 Poynt.com team will roll out the same car that ran consistant top 5 speeds at Darlington a month ago. This car is specifically designed for high bank race tracks where speeds are excessive and grip is at a premium. George Church, crew chief for the 41 car has made some changes to the car since its impressive run at Darlington to increase front end performance and keep the rubber on the road!

Timmy Hill

Although last weeks race at Charlotte Motor Speedway felt like a home track for Timmy and the crew because of its proximity to their shop, Dover really is more of a home track to Timmy and his Northeastern based family. “Dover is a cool track for me for a number of reasons. First, I grew up close to the track and remember watching Dover a lot. Secondly, I really like tough and challenging tracks like Dover. I love the combination of the high banks and speeds that Dover brings combined with the challenge of tires that wear out and a groove that will be all of the way from the apron to the safer barrier. Look for the #41 Poynt.com car to be super strong this weekend and continue our streak of top 20 finishes on the lead lap!”, stated Timmy Hill.

Charlotte Television Ratings

NASCAR and their Nationwide Series continue to provide very impressive television ratings not only with cable but also network ranking.

Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Charlotte was on ABC, so the final ratings will not be available until Friday. However, the telecast earned a 1.6 overnight rating, up from last year's 1.4 overnight. Last year's Charlotte race had a 1.6 final rating, which was up 23 percent from the previous year's 1.3.(ESPN)(5-30-2012)

With the big NASCAR show in Charlotte, Rick Ware Racing and the #41 Poynt team looked to continue their run towards weekly top 15 finishes and ultimately, the first win of the season. With Charlotte as a home town track for RWR and a personal favorite of Timmy Hill, the timing couldn’t have been better.

Crew Chief George Church

During the two practice sessions the team focused on race runs with old tires, with a goal to have the car as fast as possible late in a run. “This race typically has a long green flag feel. You will get some cautions through the race but normally you have to be strong on the long run and make tires last until you stop for fuel”, stated crew chief George Church.

The Race

This approach proved to be the right one as the team qualified a respectable 24th but immediately ran into the top 20 and stayed there all race long. While others struggled with old tires and extremely hot track conditions, the #41 Poynt.com car rose through the field, running as high as 10th through the race. With late race pit stops and a run to the checkered flag, the RWR team finished 19th on the lead lap and continued their run of solid lead lap finishes.

Timmy Hill

“Our #41 Poynt.com car was really fun to drive today. George gave me a really stable car that was flat out awesome on old tires. We had great strategy all day long and finished out a solid day. I think we could have been top 15 easily but at the end of the race, 19th on the lead lap with zero damage is just fine.”, stated Timmy Hill.

Hitting The Road

With the home stretch behind them the Poynt.com 41 team heads to Dover for the Monster Mile, looking to continue gaining momentum and solid top 15 finishes along the way!

For NASCAR Nationwide Rookie of the Year, coming home is excited on two fronts. First, to sleep in your own bed and hang out with you family is something rare to a professional motorsports driver so any chance given is a great gift. Secondly, Timmy is returning to one of his favorite tracks on the circuit, Charlotte Motor Speedway. CMS is a 1.5 mile high banked race track with a reputation of big speeds, big wins and big crashes.

For most drivers, the reputation that Charlotte has would be intimidating, but for Timmy he welcomes the challenge with open arms and an excited posture. And coming off his recent success at Darlington Speedway, arguably one of the toughest tracks on the circuit, it should be no surprise that he is ready for another major challenge. “I love challenging and technicall tracks and the faster the track, the better. I always look forward to coming out to Charlotte and running on this cool racetrack.”, stated Timmy.

Rick Ware

As a team owner, Rick Ware enjoys this race in his backyard as well. “Any time you can race this close to home it is a huge benefit to the team and everyone involved. These guys on the crew are on the road so often that a race close to home is a gift. Spend some extra time with family and it almost starts to feel like a vacation.” , stated Rick Ware.
